"Adding things to your idea files, at least weekly, helps keep projects fresh in mind and creates a regular habit of working at writing" (45)--Yes! I want to try this!
One of the perils of always having 3-4 projects going at a time is that I often put a few on the back burner waaaay longer they need to be there. Months go by and then I remember, oh yeah, I have a syllabus to write for next month or oh boy, that conference is coming up quick. If I could just spend some time each week looking over the project and filing things away, that might really help.
"One strategy for notetaking while reading is called the double-entry method" (47). I love the double entry method! That's actually kind of what I'm doing here. Quote from the text, my response after. I started using this method about a year ago, and I found that it helps me remember things from my readings so much more than underlining or commenting in the margins. It's so nice, too, to have the notes in a separate place. I'm planning to do something like this for my Comps, with the blog I started last week.
Yes, lots of good stuff her. My main take-away is that in addition to all the other reasons we've discussed this week, spending even just 15 minutes a day on a writing project can improve imagination. Yay!
