This Tuesday evening, I worked on my Comprehensive Exam project for two hours. I reviewed all the notes I've collected over the last 7 months, updated my lists based on my committee's feedback, selected my "top 40" texts that I'm excited to read and would like to read first, and then emailed my committee with an update on my progress (first in 7 months, oiga--oh wait, no judgment). I'm actually feeling really good about this--I can't wait to get reading!
I looked at my bookshelves, and I have four of the books on my top 40 already -- The Activist WPA, Gender Roles and Faculty Lives in Rhetoric and Composition, Composition in the University, and Terms of Work for Composition -- I probably have more than this, but these four stuck out, so I'm going with it! I'd like to read these over the next 1-2 weeks, probably using the Boice method where I only take a few hours on each to get general ideas, take notes, and move on. I can come back to them if needed.
In my BDS for tomorrow, I'd like to go through my Comps list and get the library codes for the books I'm going to need next. I haven't made a library run in a while, and it's about time. This is something I'll be able to do in a group setting easily without having to haul around several books, so that is what I'll do!
I didn't get to my WGST 1120 project, but that's okay. I'll do that for my BDS tomorrow evening--I think I'll start with reading Chapter 1 of the textbook we're using and then read through the teacher's manual to see what I want to use or not.
